It’s almost spring and that means that many of the cruise ships in the Caribbean and South America will sail to Europe for the summer cruising season. These repositioning cruises offer many relaxing days at sea, a chance to unwind and catch up on the latest novels, and leisurely fine dining.

They’re also good cruise deals, with fares well below voyages that call at lots of ports.

Princess Cruises has three ships offering transatlantic cruises this spring. The first sails from Fort Lauderdale on April 27, aboard Emerald Princess. With nearly 900 balcony staterooms, the 2,080-passenger Emerald Princess is a great choice for those who want to enjoy the endless ocean views.

Cobh, Ireland

After two days at sea, she arrives at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda for the day. Passengers can spend the next five days at sea enjoying the amenities of the ship, and attending lectures, special meals, and evening entertainment.

On May 6, Emerald Princess arrives in Cobh, Ireland, the port city for Cork. She calls at Falmouth, Le Havre – for Paris – Rotterdam, London, and Oslo before disembarking passengers in Copenhagen on May 13.

Passengers who wish to see Northern Europe can stay aboard and visit Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Berlin, and Aarhus, before returning to Oslo and then leaving the ship in Copenhagen on May 24. After the crossing, they’ll be well rested for their sightseeing excursions.

Repositioning cruises on Star Princess.

The 2,600-passenger Star Princess manages to offer the amenities of a bigger ship in a more manageable space.

Tenerife, Canary Islands

She sails from Fort Lauderdale on May 3 and heads for Tenerife in the Canary Islands. She arrives after a full week at sea. After a day exploring beautiful Tenerife, she sails for Gibraltar, arriving on May 13. From there, she calls at Alicante and Barcelona in Spain, Marseille, and Florence. Cruisers leave Star Princess on May 18 in Rome.

This voyage offers ports that are very diverse in nature. It packs a lot of travel experiences into a brief span of time.

Repositioning cruises on Grand Princess.

We’ve sailed on the 2,600-passenger Grand Princess several times and have always enjoyed being aboard. The ship seems much more intimate than her passenger capacity would suggest.

The Movies Under the Stars out by the pool are always enjoyable.

On May 5, Grand Princess leaves Fort Lauderdale bound for Ponta Delgada, Portugal. The crossing takes a week.

After leaving Portugal, passengers will enjoy a cruise through the British Isles, visiting Cork, Dublin, Glasgow, Holyhead, Falmouth, and Le Havre, before leaving the ship in Southampton on May 21.

Passengers who would like see more of Europe can remain on board and call at St. Peter Port on the isle of Guernsey; Brest, France; Lisbon, Portugal; and Vigo, Spain before disembarking in Southampton on May 28.

For residents of California and Washington State, a repositioning cruise along the west coast from Vancouver to Los Angeles or San Diego can be an inexpensive and exciting vacation with very few hassles. Southern Californians simply fly one-way to Vancouver and then drive or take ground transportation from the disembarkation port to their home. Washingtonians transfer to Vancouver and then fly back from Southern California.

One-way airfare is around $150, per person, and transfers are usually available through the cruise lines.

Parliament Building Victoria B.C.

For less than $500 per person, you can enjoy the cruise experience and all that goes with it – beautiful views of the coast, dining out each evening, dancing, seeing a Broadway-style show, and testing your luck in the casino.

Celebrity Millennium is a striking ship with a 25,000-square-foot spa, a demonstration kitchen, wine cellar for private dining, and a digital music library. For those who want a nice long cruise with several port visits, Millenium has a ten-night voyage that leaves from Vancouver on September 17 and calls at Nanaimo and Victoria on Vancouver Island before arriving in Seattle. After a day at sea, she arrives in San Francisco and overnights there, sailing at 8PM on Thursday, September 23. This gives passengers the opportunity to have dinner in San Francisco. The next day, she calls in Monterey, then spends a day at sea before spending a day at Catalina Island. Passengers leave the ship in San Diego on September 27.

Princess has two west coast repositioning cruises this September. The 1,900-passenger Coral Princess sails from Vancouver on Saturday, September 18 and spends two days at sea before arriving in Los Angeles on Tuesday, September 21. During the time at sea, cruisers can play mini-golf or use the sport court, enjoy entertainment in the three showrooms, get a treatment in the spa, or just enjoy some time by the pool. Sabatini’s and Bayou Café and Steakhouse provide alternatives to the main dining room.

Golden Princess leaves Vancouver the next Sunday, September 26 and does the same itinerary, arriving in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 29. This 2,600-passenger vessel, a sister ship to Grand Princess, has a central piazza with a coffee house and wine bar, the Crown Grill Steakhouse, and an adults-only Sanctuary for relaxing.

With a bowling alley, ten restaurants, a dozen bars, rock-climbing wall, and sports bar with games by day and cool lounging beds in the evenings, Norwegian Pearl has more than you can likely do in just five days. She sails from Vancouver on September 19 for Astoria, Oregon. Passengers can explore Astoria or visit the nearby Oregon beach towns. After a day at sea, she calls at San Francisco, and then spends another day at sea en route to Los Angeles, where she docks on September 24.

Cruisers who want a little more time to enjoy NCL’s Freestyle Dining and amenities can board Norwegian Star in Vancouver on October 2 for a 6-night cruise that visits Victoria, Astoria, and San Francisco. Norwegian Star was 14 lounges and bars, a two-level Mandara spa, 24-hour fitness center, and driving range.

Princess Cruises has five ships that spend the summer season in the Mediterranean and then return in the fall to the Southern Hemisphere. So, they have several transatlantic repositioning cruises to choose from.

A sister ship of the Caribbean Princess, Crown Princess is one of Princess’s newest ships. With more than 900 balcony staterooms, it’s a great ship for those who love being at sea. There’s a Sabatini’s Italian restaurant and Crown Grill in addition to the main dining rooms, and a Lotus Spa for relaxing. The atrium lobby is like a piazza with a sidewalk café and wine bar.

Crown Princess

She sails from London on September 3, 2010 and calls at Cornwall in England, Belfast and Dublin in Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland before disembarking passengers in New York on September 17. With seven port calls and seven days at sea, this voyage has a nice balance of activity and relaxation.

Grand Princess launched in 1998 as the first Princess Grand Class ship. For such a large ship — she carries 2,600 passengers — she’s surprisingly intimate with lots of cozy places. The adults-only Sanctuary is a good place to unwind and there’s a nine-hole putting course where you can work on your short game.

On Saturday, September 25, Grand Princess sails from London and visits Bergen in Norway, the Shetland Islands, Denmark, two ports in Iceland, and Nova Scotia before docking in Fort Lauderdale on October 11. With ten days at sea, this is a great choice for cruisers who want to enjoy the ship’s amenities and life at sea.

Ruby Princess is the same class as the Crown Princess, so she has the same dramatic, atrium lobby where passengers gather to enjoy a glass of wine or watch the performers. There are more than 900 balcony cabins to choose from, and several alternative restaurants.

Passengers embark Ruby Princess in Venice on October 8 and overnight onboard. She sails the next day and visits Naples, Rome, Cannes, and Barcelona. After three days at sea, she calls at Ponta Delgada, Portugal and then spends five days at sea en route to Fort Lauderdale. Passengers disembark there on October 24.

Grand Princess

Travelers with a little more time (16 nights) and a taste for the exotic should consider a repositioning cruise on the Star Princess this fall. The ship has three dining rooms, three showrooms, two alternative restaurants, and a full-service spa. With four pools, nine whirlpools, and a golf simulator, there’s plenty to do on sea days, and Movies Under the Stars are a fun evening activity.

Star Princess sails from Rome on Saturday, December 4 and calls at Florence, Cannes, Barcelona, and Casablanca and Agadir in Morocco. After five days at sea, she arrives at Recife in Brazil. After two more sea days, she arrives in Rio de Janeiro, where passengers overnight onboard the ship. They disembark in Rio on Monday, December 20.

Carrying just 64 passengers, Pacific Princess is one of the smallest ships in the Princess fleet. She is one of the R Class ships that Princess acquired from the now defunct Renaissance Cruises. And she’s a real gem to sail on. The food and service are a cut above, and the smaller scale contributes to on-board camaraderie.

Pacific Princess leaves Rome on Sunday, December 5th and visits Florence, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona. She calls at rarely visited Ceuta, which is a Spanish Territory, and then continues on to Casablanca. After visiting Ponta Delgada, Portugal, she spends four days at sea before arriving in Hamilton, Bermuda. She spends another two days at sea before disembarking passengers in Fort Lauderdale on December 22.

If you live on the west coast, a repositioning cruises from Southern California to Vancouver may be just thing after a long, wet winter. For a few hundred dollar apiece, you can enjoy a mini-vacation with good food, beautiful scenery, and smiling staff ready to answer to your every whim.

You can drive to San Pedro or San Diego, cruise for three, four, or seven nights and then fly back from Vancouver to Los Angeles. At press time, one-way fares were around $150.

So why not celebrate the start of spring with a little getaway.

NCL west coat repositioning cruises.

Norwegian Star

The 2,376-passenger Norwegian Pearl sails from Los Angeles on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Passengers on this cruise can eat in a different restaurant every night of their cruise. There’s a steakhouse, an Italian restaurant, a tapas bar, an Asian restaurant, and more. With a dozen bars and lounges, there are also plenty of places to wet your whistle, including Maltings which has the largest beer and single-malt Scotch menu at sea. Norwegian Pearl was the first cruise ship to have a bowling alley, and it has a rock-climbing wall and thalassotherapy pool. In the evening, comedy shows by the Second City improv group are hysterical.

After a day at sea, you’ll arrive in San Francisco, where you can explore Fisherman’s wharf, visit Chinatown, or tour Sausalito or Sonoma. After another day at sea, you’ll spend a day each in Astoria, Victoria, and Nanaimo, where you can take a trip on a 1929 steam train, or visit a grove of 800-year old Douglas fires. The cruise ends in Vancouver on Saturday, May 1. With four port calls, there’s lots to see and do on this voyage. Fares start at $599.

Victoria, BC

Similar to Norwegian Pearl, the 2,240-passenger Norwegian Star sails from Los Angeles on Saturday, May 1, 2010. With 12 restaurants and as many bars, there’s plenty of variety at meal time. And the 24-hour fitness center helps burn off the calories. This itinerary is perfect for those who also want to see some of the spectacular scenery of Alaska, because after three days at sea, she calls at Juneau and Ketchikan, and cruises the Inside Passage before arriving in Vancouver on May 8. Passengers can take a helicopter flight onto a glacier, take a whale-watching cruise, go fishing, enjoy a salmon bake, or take a wildlife-spotting excursion. Fares start at $599.

Princess Cruises west coast repositioning cruises.

Princess has three cruises to choose from. The 1,970-passenger Coral Princess is one of the line’s roomiest vessels. Ninety percent of her cabins are ocean view, and most of those have balconies. In addition to the main dining rooms, there’s Sabatini’s Italian restaurant and the Bayou Café steakhouse. The huge, poolside LCD screen is a passenger favorite. She sails from Los Angeles on Thursday, May 6, 2010, and calls at Victoria after two days at sea. Passengers leave the ship in Vancouver on Monday, May 10. Fares start at $399.

Golden Princess

The 2,006-passenger Golden Princess sails from Los Angeles on Sunday, May 9, 2010. With three showrooms and Movies Under the Stars out on deck, there’s plenty to do at night. And with four pools and nine whirlpools, you can soak up the sun on the day at sea. Golden Princess arrives in Catalina Island the first morning and overnights there, sailing at one the next afternoon. You can tour the island, go for a kayaking or rafting trip, play a round of golf, snorkel, SCUBA dive, or go for a glass-bottom boat ride. That evening, you can have dinner ashore, or pop into town for a night cap. The next day, you’ll arrive in San Francisco. You’ll have a full day there and in Victoria before arriving in Vancouver on Friday, May 14. Fares start at $449.

A sister ship to Coral Princess, the 1,970-passenger Island Princess sails from Los Angeles on Friday May 14, 2010 and arrives in Vancouver on Monday, May 17. There are no port calls, so this itinerary is a great choice for cruisers who love life at sea. Enjoy the shows at night, sleep in in the morning, and then have a relaxing day at the spa, pool, or art auction. Fares start at $349.

Repositioning cruises on Royal Princess.

Another one of the former Renaissance Cruises “R Class ships, Royal Princess is a sister ship to Pacific Princess. It carries 710 passengers in style in 355 spacious and well-designed staterooms, 75% of which have balconies.

The beautiful, wood-paneled library with leather wing chairs is one of the largest at sea with over 4,000 titles. And Sabatini’s Italian Restaurant and Sterling Steakhouse provide passengers with additional dining options.

Royal Princess spends the summer in Alaska and the fall in Tahiti, so she offers a couple trans-Pacific repositioning cruises.

On April 30, 2010, Royal Princess sails from Fort Lauderdale and calls at Aruba before transiting the Panama Canal. After leaving the canal, she visits Costa Rica and four ports in Mexico before heading up the Pacific coast for San Francisco. She’s in port until 10PM, which lets passengers spend the evening ashore in San Francisco. Then she sails for Seattle, arriving two days later. With a total of ten sea days, there’s plenty of time to relax and enjoy the ship’s amenities.

Once the Alaska season is over, Royal Princess heads to the South Pacific. She leaves on September 14, 2010 from Vancouver, British Columbia and arrives in Hilo, Hawaii six days later. She calls at Kona, Lahaina, and Kauai in the Hawaiian islands before arriving in Honolulu. Passengers who embarked in Vancouver can stay aboard and sail all the way to Papeete, or disembark in Honolulu on September 24.

Those with less time can board in Honolulu instead of Vancouver. They’ll visit Kauai, Lahaina, and Hilo before crossing the South Pacific. After five days at sea, they’ll arrive in Bora Bora, where they’ll spend a full day before sailing at 3AM. En route to Papeete, Royal Princess will call at Raiatea, and Moorea. Passengers overnight aboard ship in Papeete and disembark the next morning.

After spending several months sailing the brilliant turquoise waters of the Society Islands, Royal Princess returns to Hawaii. Passengers board in Papeete on December 5, 2010, overnight on board, and sail the next morning, calling at Moorea, Raiatea, and Bora Bora before beginning the Pacific crossing. After five sea days, she arrives in Hilo, and visits Kona, and Maui before ending the voyage in Honolulu. Cruisers who love being at sea will enjoy there voyages a lot.

Repositioning cruises on Ocean Princess.

The third of the old Renaissance ships, Ocean Princess was formerly the Tahitian Princess. She offers some of the longest and most exotic repositioning cruises in the Princess repertoire. And travelers with the time and money can enjoy an unforgettable experience both on board and ashore.

On March 20, 2010, Ocean Princess begins a 48-day voyage from Shanghai to Capetown. Passengers can embark or disembark in several places along the way, creating the voyage that best suits their needs.

Cruising the Mediterranean

After leaving Shanghai, Ocean Princess visits Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, India, Oman, Dubai, the Seychelles, Madagascar, Durban, and East London before arriving in Capetown. Of the 48 days, 25 are at sea, so there’s a nice balance of port calls and days off. And it’s hard to imagine so many diverse travel experiences rolled into one journey.

Her next voyage calls at some very exotic African ports, and this is a great way to visit some places you might be hesitate to travel to independently. Ocean Princess leaves Capetown on May 7, 2010 for the North Atlantic and calls at ports in Namibia, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Gambia, and Senegal before arriving in the Canary Islands. From there, she sails to Funchal, Casablanca, Ceuta, Seville, Lisbon, and Le Havre before disembarking passengers in Dover. If you want to see lots of Africa but still enjoy the comforts of home, this is a wonderful option.

At the end of the European season, Ocean Princess returns to Capetown, sailing from Rome on October 20, 2010. Passengers will visit Sorrento, Barcelona, Nice, Portofino, Livorno, Rome, Livorno, Cannes, Barcelona, Tangier, Casablanca, Senegal, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Namibia before arriving in Capetown.

From Capetown, she does the Singapore voyage in reverse, calling at Mozambique, Reunion Island, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Oman, Dubai, India, and Malaysia along the way. From Singapore, she stops in the Phillipines, China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam before ending the voyage in Bangkok.

During the late 1990s, boutique cruise line Renaissance Cruises launched eight 684-passenger “R Class” ships that featured spacious cabins – many with balconies – old-world ambience, and intimate public areas.

Unable to survive the after-effects of 9/11, Renaissance ceased operations in 2001. And today, three of their R Class ships have joined the Princess fleet as Pacific Princess, Royal Princess, and Ocean Princess.

For Princess cruisers who’ve only sailed on their 2,500+ passenger ships, these smaller ships will come as a revelation. And many will find that less really is more.

First of all, the smaller ships can visit ports the big ship can’t – places like Kotor, Montenegro, and Ravenna, Italy. And once you’re in port, you won’t find the town overwhelmed by cruisers.

On board, the service is really attentive, and the food is absolutely first-rate. There’s a big difference between serving 350 diners at a time and serving twice that number. And the difference shows in the quality, variety, and presentation of the food.

Avoid cabins at the front of the ship where you be awakened each morning by the anchor chain or the bow thrusters.

Repositioning cruises on Pacific Princess.

Sunset at Sea

If you have the time and the money, Pacific Princess will take you pretty much around the world in 2010. She sails in the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, along the coast of Mexico, across the Pacific, throughout New Zealand, Australia, and Asia, in the Mediterranean, and across the Atlantic.

In some ways, the entire circumnavigation is one big repositioning cruise, with countless places to embark and disembark along the way.

She sails on January 27, 2010 from Fort Lauderdale and arrives in Rome 107 days later. There are plenty of ports – and days at sea – in between. And you can enjoy as many or as few as you can afford.

After leaving Fort Lauderdale, she calls at Aruba and Cartagena, Columbia before transiting the Panama Canal. She then visits Costa Rica, Guatemala, an Mexico, before arriving in Los Angeles.

From Los Angeles, she sails for Honolulu, spending five days at sea. There’s another six days at sea before she reaches Fiji. She calls at Vanuatu and three ports in New Zealand, before arriving in Sydney, where passengers can embark or disembark.

Pacific Princess calls at Cairns, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Truk, Micronesia, and Guam en route to Japan, Korea, and Beijing, China. From there, she spends three days at sea before making port calls in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, the Maldives, Mumbai, Dubai, Muscat, and Luxor.

On the last leg before arriving in Rome for the summer Mediterranean season, she sails through the Suez Canal and calls at Athens and Sorrento before arriving in Civitavecchia.

By November, she’s ready to head back to the Caribbean. Passengers can board in Athens on November 23, 2010 and visit Santorini, Patmos, Kusadasi, Nazareath, Jerusalem, Port Said, Alexandria, and Sorrento before arriving in Rome.

Those who have less time or have already sailed in the Mediterranean, can board in Rome on November 5 and call at Livorno, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Ceuta, Casablanca, and the Azores, before crossing the Atlantic. They’ll call in Hamilton, Bermuda, and then spend two more days at sea before arriving in Fort Lauderdale.

Smallish by Princess standards, Dawn Princess is one of the line’s Sun-class ships. With a Champagne and caviar bar, an adults-only Sanctuary spa, a wrap-around, teak promenade deck with steamer chairs, and an LED Movies under the Stars screen, it’s very popular with passengers.

Dawn Princess will spend 2010 sailing roundtrips from Melbourne or Sydney to ports in Australia and New Zealand. There’s only one repositioning cruise available in 2010. She leaves Sydney on November 7, spends a day at sea, and then calls at Tasmania before arriving in Melbourne.

Repositioning cruises on Diamond Princess.

Day at sea

The 2,670-passenger Diamond Princess has some interesting features, including a balcony off the Skywalker Lounge that’s great for watching the ship’s trail, a show lounge with 42 high-tech video screens, an Internet café with 29 computers, and golf simulators that let you play some of the most renowned courses in the world.

Dawn Princess spends the winter in Australia and Asia and the summer in Alaska. Because you can embark and disembark Diamond Princess in several ports in Asia and the South Pacific, you can make your own Asia/South Pacific repositioning cruise from February through March and then again from October through December.

On April 30, 2010 Diamond Princess leaves Asia for Alaska. She sails from Beijing and calls at Dalian and Qingdao in China, Pusan in South Korea, and Vladivostok, Russia. After many days at sea, she arrives in Whittier Alaska. From there, she cruises past Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay National Park before visiting Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan, Alaska. Passengers disembark in Vancouver.

She returns from Alaska to Asia on September 1, 2010, operating the same itinerary in reverse.

On December 5, Diamond Princess leaves Bangkok and calls at Vietnam, Singapore and Padang Bay on the way to Australia, where she visits Darwin, Port Douglas and Airlie Beach before arriving in Sydney. Travelers with more time can stay aboard and disembark in Auckland 9 days later.

Repositioning cruises on Golden Princess.

One of Princess’s Grand Class ships, the Golden Princess has more than 700 balcony staterooms. Grown ups will enjoy the adults-only Sanctuary, three show rooms, the Lotus Spa, fitness center, and nine whirlpools. While kids of all ages will find spaces just for them. In addition to the main dining rooms, passengers can have dinner at Sabatinis or the Painted Dessert restaurant. One of Grand Princess’s most enjoyable features is the 300-square-foot LED screen out by the pool. It’s great for watching movies and sporting events.

Golden Princess repositions for the Alaska season in early May. She sails on May 9, 2010 from Los Angeles, overnights at Catalina Island, and visits San Francisco and Victoria, British Columbia before disembarking passengers in Vancouver.

On September 26, 2010, she heads south for the winter, sailing from Vancouver and arriving in Los Angeles after two days at sea. It’s a relaxing, affordable getaway for those who just want to enjoy the ship’s amenities.

Repositioning cruises on Grand Princess.

The first of the Grand Class ships, Grand Princess created quite a stir when she was launched in 1998. At that time, she was the biggest cruise ship in the world. We were lucky enough to tour her in Barcelona that year.

She was very impressive. And she’s still impressive today. Despite her size, there are plenty of nooks and crannies that feel positively cozy. And her distinctive profile is easy to spot when she’s in port. In fact, the Europeans dubbed her “the shopping cart.”

Grand Princess repositions to Europe for the summer season in early April. She sails from Fort Lauderdale on April 9, 2010 and spends two days at sea before arriving in Bermuda. Passengers will spend a day there before spending six days crossing the Atlantic. Next, she calls at Glasgow, Dublin, Cork, Cornwall, and Le Havre, before disembarking passengers in London. Those who wish can stay aboard and visit Seville, Sardinia, Rome, Florence, Cannes, Barcelona, and Gibraltar before returning to London 13 days later.

When the summer season ends in Europe, she returns to the U.S. She sails from London on September 25, 2010 and visits Bergen, Norway, the Shetland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, and Nova Scotia before arriving in Fort Lauderdale. This voyage includes ten days at sea, so there’s plenty of time to relax and unwind.

With 17 ships, 350 ports, and more than 120 different itineraries, Princess Cruises has something for everyone. Over the years, the line has introduced many innovations, and today, they’re one of the most respected names in cruising.

Meals, on-board entertainment, and shore excursions are all well run. And all but the most demanding travelers will likely enjoy their time onboard a Princess cruise.

Because Princess has so many ship and sails to virtually every corner of the world, they offer more repositioning cruises than any other cruise line. From a one-day voyage from Vancouver to Seattle to a 37-day sailing from Sydney to Beijing, Princess has repositioning cruises of every length.

Repositioning cruises on Caribbean Princess.

Beautiful sea day

The largest ship in Princess’s fleet, the Caribbean Princess carries 3,100 passengers. Nearly 900 of her staterooms have balconies, and there’s an entire deck devoted to mini suites. The Lotus Spa is one Princess’s best, and there’s an adults-only Sanctuary. Active travelers will enjoy the sport court, fitness center and golf amenities. There are also several venues for kids of all ages. So the Caribbean Princess is an especially good choice for families.

On May 2, 2010, she sails from San Juan, Puerto Rico, bound for New York. The 8-day sailing calls at St. Thomas, Antigua, and Bermuda, and has three sea days. On October 23, 2010, she returns from New York to San Juan, calling at Bermuda, St. Lucia, Antigua, and St. Thomas en route.

Repositioning cruises on Coral Princess.

Coral Princess has some cool features you won’t find on other ships, including a demonstration kitchen, and a ceramics lab. One of the three swimming pools has a retractable dome roof, and in addition to the main dining rooms, there are two alternative restaurants – Sabatini’s and the Bayou Café and Steakhouse for New Orleans-influenced dishes. There’s a cigar bar and a Rat Pack-style martini and piano bar.

She leaves Fort Lauderdale on April 21, 2010 as she repositions for the Alaska season. She calls at Aruba and Catagena before transiting the Panama Canal. Then visits Costa Rica, Huatulco, Acapulco, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She cruises up the U.S Pacific coast, calling at Los Angeles and Victoria, British Columbia, and disembarks passengers in Vancouver 20 days later.

Travelers looking for a short, domestic getaway can board Coral Princess in Los Angeles on May 6, 2010 and disembark in Vancouver five days later. Victoria is the only port call on this itinerary.

At the end of the Alaska season, Coral Princess sails from Vancouver on September 18, 2010, doing the Fort Lauderdale-to-Vancouver itinerary in reverse. Passengers who don’t have time for the whole cruise can disembark in Los Angeles instead.

Repositioning cruises on Crown Princess.

One of the newest ships in the Princess fleet, Crown Princess is a sister ship to the Caribbean Princess. But there are a few differences. The atrium lobby on Crown Princess, which was designed to resemble an Italian piazza, has a “sidewalk” café. And there’s a sport court on top of the Skywalker Disco.

Cruisers who love days at sea will enjoy sailing aboard Crown Princess when she repositions from the Caribbean to Europe. Passengers board in Fort Lauderdale on May 1, 2010 and then have eight sea days before arriving in Gibraltar. They’ll also visit Alicante and Barcelona, Spain, Marseilles, France, and Livorno, Italy before disembarking in Civitavecchia (Rome) on May 15.

Or passengers can stay onboard and go all the way to Venice, visiting Monte Carlo, Livorno, Naples, Santorini, Kusadasi, Mykonos, Athens, Katakolon, and Corfu on the way.

Crown Princess then heads for London to spend the warm summer months in Northern Europe. Passengers can board the ship in Venice and do the above itinerary in reverse. Or join in Rome and call at Livorno, Genoa, Cannes, Barcelona, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Dublin, Glagow, Le Havre, and Zeebrugge before arriving in London.

At the end of the European season, Crown Princess returns to the United States leaving London on September 3, 2010. Passengers will visit Cornwall, Dublin, Belfast, Reykjavik, Greenland, and St. John’s, Newfoundland before arrive in New York.

Lovers of fall foliage will enjoy being aboard as Crown Princess relocates to the Caribbean. Passengers board on October 17, 2010 and overnight in Quebec City, then sail to Ville Saguenay, Hailfax, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport, New York, Norfolk, and Charleston before disembarking in Fort Lauderdale.
